«أين البنك؟» = Where is the bank? لكن بأسلوب مهذب: Do you know where the bank is? لاحظ: في الجزء الثاني يرجع الترتيب كجملة عادية — the bank is.

١القاعدة
عندما يكون السؤال داخل جملة أخرى (Do you know...? / Can you tell me...? / I don't know...)، يأخذ الجزء الثاني ترتيب الجملة العادية، بدون do/does/did.

سؤال نعم/لا ← نستخدم if (أو whether):
- Is the shop open? ← Do you know if the shop is open?
- Did he call? ← I don't know if he called.
