الواجب والمنع: must وmustn't وdon't need to

must / mustn't / don't need to

must للشيء الضروري، mustn't للممنوع، وdon't need to لما ليس ضروريًا. انتبه: mustn't وdon't need to معناهما مختلف تمامًا!

١القاعدة

must / mustn't + الفعل الأصلي — نفس الشكل مع كل الفواعل.

قارن جيدًا:

  • You mustn't tell him. (ممنوع أن تخبره — إنه سر)
  • You don't need to tell him. He already knows. (لا داعي لإخباره)

في الماضي لا نستخدم must، بل had to: I had to work late yesterday.

need to فعل عادي: She doesn't need to come. Do I need to pay?
