I am, I don't etc. (avoiding repetition)
بدل أن تكرر الجملة كاملة، الإنجليزية تكتفي بالفعل المساعد: «لا أملك سيارة، لكن أختي تملك» = I haven't got a car, but my sister has.

١القاعدة
نكرر الفعل المساعد فقط (am/is/are، do/does/did، have/has، can، will، was/were) بدل الجملة كلها.

في الإجابات القصيرة:
- Are you hungry? — Yes, I am.
- Do you speak English? — A little. My husband does.
- Will you help me? — Of course I will.
- Please help me. — I'm sorry, I can't.
تنبيه: لا نختصر في المثبت آخر الجملة: ✔ Yes, I am / she is / they have ✘ Yes, I'm / she's.
